Wildlife, wild weather, and all kinds of wildcards: why exactly does the power go out?

While our 10-year outage numbers are on a solid downward trend, this summer has seen an unexpected uptick in unplanned outages. Have you ever wondered what causes the power to go out?

A special note for members in Aspen, Snowmass, and Basalt about the voltage incident on Friday, 8/16: Parts of our electrical distribution grid were inadvertently fed “low-voltage” power for a short time from our wholesale transmission lines, which can cause damage to unprotected electrical equipment. If you think you experienced damage as a result of this incident, please click here for more information.

Accessible, affordable clean energy through Sustainable Solar

We are excited to announce the next lottery and participation period for Sustainable Solar. This program gives income-qualified members access to local clean energy, resulting in an up-to-50% reduction in your monthly electric bills.

  • No cost to you
  • No equipment installed or work done on your home
  • No matter where you live, or if you own or rent, as long as you fall under the income limits

All you need to do is apply for the lottery!

A new battery option for Power+

Exciting news for members considering home battery energy storage. Power+ now works with Emporia SolaX batteries, in addition to Tesla Powerwalls.

Power+ provides members with an affordable path to at-home battery storage resilience:

  • Pay nothing upfront, with 0% interest repayments on your electric bill
  • Earn monthly bill credits for sharing your unused stored energy with the grid during times of high electric demand

Reports of door-to-door scammers in our area

We’ve recently received reports of impersonators falsely claiming to be Holy Cross Energy workers, telling members that their meters need replacing and demanding immediate payment.

Our field crews always carry identification and drive marked vehicles. We will never ask for money or handle payments at your door.

If in doubt, please always call us to verify any work or staff on your property

How to score a $450 e-bike discount at local bike shops

To help promote clean and healthy transportation, Colorado is offering all residents a $450 tax credit on electric bikes!

This point-of-sale discount is available at participating local retailers, meaning it’s an instant discount without the need of any extra tax paperwork.

And if you pledge to replace some of your gas-powered commuting miles with your new e-bike, we’ll throw in another $50 rebate!

Fall fun ahead!

We’ll be at some great community events the next few weeks. Find us to learn more about your co-op’s programs and services!
